meet THE PASTORZach Schaeffer grew up in Vandalia, IL, and after leaving for college and years of ministry in central Illinois, he is excited to return home to lead the church he grew up in. His desire is to introduce people in the community to true love and true hope in Jesus. Zach attended Trinity International University, where he studied Christian Ministry with a focus in youth ministry, counseling and social services, and a minor in Biblical Studies. While at TIU, Zach met the love of his life, Megan, and they were married in 2008 shortly after Zach’s graduation. Following college, Zach served as an associate pastor at Cross Pointe Church of God in Bloomington, IL, from 2008-2014. During this time, Zach was ordained in the Church of God Anderson, IN (2011). After seven years as Associate Pastor, Zach took on a new role as the Executive Director of Camp Warren Ministries in Decatur, IL, where he served from 2014-2020. During this time, he also served as a youth pastor at Passion Community Church. In addition to his other roles, Zach has also been the Director of Student Leadership and Development for Illinois Ministries of the Church of God since 2018. Zach loves playing and coaching sports – and cheering on his favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Fighting Illini, and the Vandalia Vandals. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Megan and their four wonderful children, Mackenzie, William, Briella, and Hannah. |
